We have created this engagement hub to keep our stakeholders, friends and all those interested in improving cancer outcomes up to date with the development of the first Australian Cancer Plan.

The Australian Cancer Plan is a historical step forward in cancer control. This 10-year plan for national action, with 2- and 5- year goals and visionary 10-year ambitions, will set a transformative agenda to accelerate world-class cancer outcomes and improve the lives of all Australians affected by cancer.

The Australian Cancer Plan presents the opportunity to design and deliver a ground-breaking national plan to identify and address system-level issues in cancer control that need coordinated national action.

Hear from Cancer Australia's CEO - Professor Dorothy Keefe

Collaboration is a key guiding principle for the development of the Australian Cancer Plan. The development of the Australian Cancer Plan includes multiple opportunities for targeted and public consultation to support idea generation, prioritisation of issues, collaborative design of strategies, and review of the draft Australian Cancer Plan.

We urge you to register to receive regular development updates so we can engage with you and gain your valuable input on key aspects of the Australian Cancer Plan.

Progress to date has involved a Ministerial Roundtable, public consultation, review of cancer plans, health plans, and literature and data, and a number of targeted discussions with key stakeholder groups, including the Australian Cancer Plan Advisory Group and Australian Cancer Plan Jurisdictional Reference Group.

Cancer Australia sincerely thanks all those who have taken the time to contribute your experience and expertise through these activities to inform the development of the Australian Cancer Plan thus far.

The Australian Cancer Plan will be delivered to the Minister for Health and Aged Care in April 2023.

What’s next?

Update July 2022

Cancer Australia has been working with stakeholders and the Department of Health and Aged Care across the cancer system to develop the first Australian Cancer Plan (ACP). The ACP will provide an overarching national approach to cancer control that meets the needs of all Australians now and in the future and will address unacceptable disparities in outcomes.
